Home
The word resonated within the bulky ninja's thoughts as the winds surrounding him died down, his mass of spiky locks falling irritably into his eyes. He dared not look around, not yet. He would not let the off chance that that Dimensional Witch had made a mistake in her obvious drunkenness, and sent him to the wrong world, he dared not let that chance escape his eager psyche. His mind shunned any hope within his entirety that wished and wished for his feet to have landed on firm earth, on Nihon's earth. He did not hope, lest his hopes be shattered and broken upon the possible realization that this world, the world he'd landed in, was not his Nihon. And so, with bated breath, he raised his crimson irises.
Home.
This is it. This was home. This was Nihon. He felt the nostalgic swell in his chest the instant his eyes had fallen on the monstrous tree in the centre of the rural town, glowing softly pink as sakura petals drifted lazily to the floor. He saw the buildings, with their ceilings low and easy to climb upon, reminiscing in the days that he'd been able to leap atop them and easily startle an assassin within a few fleeting seconds. He saw the memories, flooding back through the familiar scent of sakura and foliage and green earth.
But those days were gone, he remembered bitterly as his mechanical limb clenched its fist. He was no longer the cruel man that he had used to be. This was not to say, of course, he was not strong; he had merely, simply...matured. Kurogane now had many hinderences that would never let him return to the immature, bloodthirsty man he knew he once was. For one, the new arm hurt. Quite a bit. And if he moved it to quick, say to swing his sword, it would sting and even bleed. Not to mention the curse that his princess had placed upon him, the curse that he'd crossed over, not once but twice. Each time that his sword had slid through a body since he'd begun his journey long ago, his strength dwindled and flickered away. Once with the maniacal king of Celes, once in the Final Battle against the man who'd murdured his parents, Fei Wang Reed.
He did not regret either of these kills, and he never would.
As his fist unfurled by his side, his strange arm leaving odd wrinkles and creases in the traditional outfit he wore, he forced himself to forget the past. To forget his trials and tribulations. Those were all behind him now, as he finally stood before his one home, his place where he'd truly belonged. None of these thoughts mattered anymore. It pleased him and sent a jolt of rare calmness and relief when he realized that, from now on, his pone and only concern would be to protect this place and its princess. ------ Ugh, 486. Tomoyo stood in the open, breathing deeply. Nothing was the same. No. That was incorrect. Things were the same. Nihon Country had remained, mostly, the same. The people went on with their daily lives, she went on with hers, Amaterasu went on with hers. But it still didn't feel quite the same. Why? Because the person I used to constantly see standing by is not here. She did not feel regret for sending him away and she had been and still was, positive that he had found the meaning of true strength. Tomoyo had seen the pain he had to endure and understood. True, she herself had never been placed in the spot he occupied, but she had done her best to understand. Feel, what he felt. And now, she was waiting for his return. She had in fact, been waiting a long time, but she was positive that he would return.
I will not hesitate to welcome him. I will smile, welcome him back to his home warmly congratulate him, tease him. Do whatever I must do to imply that I still want him here, I still need him as a protector, as a friend. Of course, onee-sama will not be extremely pleased, nor will a few others. But we should rejoice for Kurogane's return. It is unfortunate that I will have no warning of when he will return. And of course, the curse, I should remember to lift it. Unless he, against my expectations, did not learn, however unlikely.
She turned away from where she stood, and made her way away from the view of the small garden and started walking through corridors, pushing open sliding doors, determined to make her way out of the castle, who cared what Amaterasu would say. Tomoyo ignored the calls of a few people who happened to be there. Calls of "Tomoyo-hime" and "Tsukuyomi" were ignored. Her robes almost silent was she walked, she made her way away from the heart of the castle she called home and finally out into the open. It had a grand view of the area, and now without her dreamseer powers, she would have to wait for Kurogane's appearance from that position. She would see him and then smile, and tell him.
Welcome home.

With hesitant and almost weak knees, Kurogane stepped forward into the light of the sun, away from the cool and dark shade of the large tree. He had expected looks. Many people, passing by or patrolling the area, were whispering and staring. Of course, he thought, it's not every day that somebody simply appears from a portal capable of travelling through time and space. He sighed and stood his ground, not daring to lower his head. After the first step had been taken, illuminating his entirety, he took a bolder approach towards the main building, where he was certain he would find Tomoyo-hime and be able to announce his arrival.
Souma will be angry, he thought with a smirk. He was almost overcome with another disheartening wave of nostalgia, remembering the 'old days.'
So much had changed, but for the better, he believed. No longer was he a monster with a crooked compass, but a warrior with a newfound strength and possibly a few weaknesses as well. Having sacrificed life and limb throughout his journey, he'd discovered a newfound knowledge in the value of a life. Even those who were like the child he'd once been, fighting with a lost cause, their lives were nothing to be tossed away without second glance. However, he feared-yes, feared- that with this strange and unfamiliar compassion-of-sorts would possibly bring his downfall, the nameless criminal slipping through his fingers.
He shuddered violently at the thought. Could he do it? Could he possibly protect his princess and save lives in remembrance for the many he'd taken shamelessly? Or was it all a paradoxical hoax that could never end with a happy ending? He would try. Try as hard as possible, he thought firmly; he would find a way to do both with the devotion and ability of his older self, but with the strength of hisself in the now. And he refused to let it go any other way.
Determination in his steps, Kurogane finally reached the soft wood of the door. His home, he thought once more with reverence. His hand, the one that was warm and tan with flesh, slid the entrance open easily as he strode through the perimeters. He slid the door shut easily, so as not to make too much noise-mostly by habit. For several seconds, he paused in his movements and simply took in his familiar surroundings. A soft sigh escaped his lips, his crimson irises circling and scrolling through every immaculate detail of the sanctuary. His hands fell to thumb his pockets in an almost-relaxed stance. Reality set in.
He was home. There was nothing more that needed to be done. This was where he belonged and where he would stay, presumably, for the rest of his life. He'd never leave Tomoyo-hime's side again.------ Eh, too lazy to count? ^^u [/li][li]TAGGED* Daidoji-sama! [/li][li]LISTENING TO* Nothing, sadly. Tomoyo breathed in deeply, enjoying the clear area she was shrouded in. Sooner or later, she would be able to enjoy that with Kurogane by her side. She silently wondered about going down into town. After all, it wasn't like anybody was going to stop her, right? And she was just visiting. She also found it highly unlikely that anybody would sneak out of the shadows to kidnap her or anything. The princess turned sharply to study the doors she had left open, undoubtedly her sister was being told about her supposed "escape".
Tomoyo chuckled to herself as she started down the steps. She did not worry about her expensive and elegent robes. She was quick, decending and rushing past the guards. They shouted after her, but neither one ran after her. That just shows how much Kurogane is required. In one way, she was just testing the protection that had been cast around her, in another, she was just the princess going out on a walk that she was actually forbidden to go on. The princess swept a stray black hair out of her eyes as she hurried deeper into the town.
She noticed the eyes of the ordinary people, she smiled and waved a little before pushing past, deeper into the town. Tomoyo liked the company of the many people, it felt warm to be honest. She then stopped near the sakura tree. Her violet eyes looked around, searching for the thing she least expected to find. No, she did not see him. Tomoyo wondered if she should check his home, after all, it was possible was it not? And as she made her way towards it, she wondered to herself. Why did I not check earlier? And then she found herself standing in front of the door, looking at the back of the person she had sent away. Tomoyo did not make a sound, but she stared for the time being.

The movement was practically habitual at this point. As soon as his ears registered with the gentle shuffling of the thin silk, and the soft intake of breathe from be hind, he whirled. His human hand fell to his waist where Ginryuu almost-always rested, but grasped only thin, cold air. Of course, he thought; the Dimensional Witch had kept his sword for compensation. He muttered a silent curse as his eyes met with his assumed-attacker. He froze. Fully turned now, his shocked crimson irises had met with familiar and equally-stunned violet.
He felt a tad bit foolish for not knowing what to say. Hey or Hello both seemed much too impersonal. He had debated, for the many years of his journey and the month or so in Clow Country as well, on what he would finally tell his princess. He'd wanted to apologize, he'd hoped to establish or reestablish the close connection that they had held as children, in the days that Kurogane had still looked to her as his savior. But as his eyes fell upon her vulnerable and extremely alone state, he felt the familiar anger flood his chest without warning, in a torrential wave.
"Where are your guards? Where is Sôma?!" the protective side of his personality became evident on his face, his dark brows dropping in angered disapproval.------ CANTARELLA - Hatsune Miku and Kaito [/li][li]WORD COUNT* Eh, too lazy. -_-u [/li][li]NOTES* Hmm, my post size shrunk. The princess almost could not believe her eyes, but she believed them. She smiled hugely and before she could speak, Kurogane asked what she had half-expected.
"Where are your guards? Where is Sôma?!"
Oh this. Yep. Exactly what she expected from Kurogane. And then Tomoyo started giggling, she raised a hand to cover her mouth as she did so, extremely unprincess-like but she was happy. As she calmed down, Tomoyo answered. "I left the castle without permission. But I don't think anyone had any objection." She glanced in the direction she came in. "Well, obviously they did, but it looks like they have been rather slow organizing someone to bring me back." Then Tomoyo dropped the elegant air she had assumed and spoke to Kurogane, not as the princess, but as a friend. "Welcome back, Kurogane."
She clearly wasn't very concerned about what Kurogane would think about her lazy and of course, would-not-satisfy-Kurogane answer about her safety. But she really, truly did not care. He was back and that was what mattered.

The raven-haired warrior sighed gently; he'd expected just as much. Despite the regal, royal, and proper aura that the miko held, Kurogane had always been able to detect her true personality. In all of the many worlds he had travelled, in all of the 'Tomoyo's that he had met and come across, they all had the same affable qualities as his princess. They were strong, wise, mature in all the levels that a woman should be, but held that small affable ability to smile through everything. These smiles were not, of course, the same grins that the foolish magician had shared with him and the children from Clow, but they were honest and hopeful.
At the sight of this smile, he could not help the rush of relief through his veins; Tomoyo at least would be in no danger strolling around within the light of day.
"Well," he started slowly. "Seeing as I'm back, I might as well show those imbiciles how to do their jobs," he growled, irritation plain in his dialect.
He was no fool. Travelling through each world, battling the fearsome (to some) Oni and fighting against raw and base characters such as Kyle Rondart and Seishiro, he'd come to realize just how dangerous even a home could be. In every world, he'd come close to giving his life or taking anothers. And throughout the entirety, the constant worry of his princess's safety had been prominent within the back of his mind. Here and now, standing before her, he finally relaxed.
"It's good to be back," he murmured, garnet eyes closing.

Tomoyo chuckled a little at Kurogane's words and then smiled warmly. "Yes. The world is full again." Perhaps Kurogane would not catch the full meaning of her words and then again, maybe he would. He had left an empty void when he left, and it was clear that some knew of his absence and wondered if he would return. Now that void was filled.
The princess stepped toward, Kurogane, "Do you wish to come to the castle first? I'm sure everyone would like to see you." She also knew that sooner or later, those that were sent after her would probably find them, but no matter, Tomoyo wanted to return to the sanctuary of her castle with Kurogane by her side. Now he will react awkwardly. Or maybe not. Probably awkwardly. She silently laughed at herself. She was so much like a child, rejoicing to see the return of someone dear.
She also pondered what pain he had gone through. Too much. She told herself. And then the wiser more lady-like part of her said, Not too much but not too little either. And Tomoyo agreed.

"Yes. The world is full again."
Just what had the royal girl meant? Had his presence been missed? Had the raven-haired female really felt disheartened at his absence? Confusion raised his dark eyebrow in a perfect arch over his garnet orb. He debating asking about her meanings, but thought better of it. He was pretty sure she would more than like hold it from him and taunt him with the information.
"Yeah," he grunted. "Well, it isn't as if I had much of a choice, did I?" he retorted, fighting a small smirk. He in no way held her past decision against her; there were far too many lessons he had learnt over the timeframe of his trip that he valued now, lessons he kept close at heart. Although his chest swelled with a certain since of pride with the information that he had been missed, he immediately rejected it and merely nodded vaguely in a small and seemingly belated gesture of agreement.
The castle...he pondered the thought briefly. He looked forward to the homecoming, although he least expected that anybody else would feel joyed at his welcoming. Nevertheless, he thought; those insignificant people mattered not to him. It was absolute and certain that the only person that mattered in this world was pleased that he had returned, and that was more than enough for him.
"Yes," he mumbled, a large hand raising to scratch the back of his head. "I suppose we should." He didn't dare let the ex-dreamseer cross through Shirisagi alone once again without being properly protected.

Tomoyo had studied Kurogane's changing expression with increasing amusement. She noted the reluctance he held about going to the castle but did not comment, she would find other times to tease him. Light-heartedly, she began to turned and walk away, "Then off we go." She was perfectly relaxed as she walked, only it was closer to a stroll.
Not checking to see if he followed, she walked, tossing a few smiles around. The princess was not the least concerned about her safety, in fact, somewhat ignorant, at least that was what it seemed. As she made her way down the streets again, she pondered over things. But mainly one subject. So he was finally learnt. He has understood the meaning of true strength. Perhaps they would have a discussion about it. Whether he wants to or not shouldn't matter.
Tomoyo made slow progress, but was unaware of that fact. Her thoughts then drifted onto the palace system. Hm. It's as if onee-sama knows that I would be fine. But that is rather unlikely. She wondered if she would have to endure, first her elder sister lecture her and then her elder sister rant to the guards. And naturally, the princess wasn't bothered by that at all. It does happen rather often actually. She mused to herself, clearly amused.

Kurogane picked up an idle pace, only a step behind her. His garnet eyes darted left and right as they strolled through the sanctum, habitual clenching of his fists. Even without Ginryuu he was not defenseless.
"How many attempts have there been made?" He was quite nervous that perhaps he had missed too much, that maybe Shirisagi had changed in some way, despite its seemingly calm and gentle outward appearance. It wouldn't have been the first world he'd come across.
His loose outfit was not what he wished for; it slid against the floor, dragging and burdening his body. Although the chance of anything happening or of any assassins attempting to take Tomoyo-hime's life, he did not enjoy the thought of being unable to fight in the baggy trousers and the loose shirt. He'd have preferred his sword as well, Ginryuu tucked safely by his side. He wondered what it would take to bargain it back from that irritating Witch.

Tomoyo shrugged at the question, "None so far." And she kept walking. It seemed like a perfectly fine day, with no troubles or dangers ahead, it was too bad that those who protected her could never feel that way. There was also the issue of her own abilities, she had repeatedly told her elder sister, almost constantly reminding her that she had magic. But no, she was a princess, a miko, and her younger sister so she would have protectors.
The princess continued through without any problems and soon reached the edge of the busy area. Here, things were quieter and they could stroll through completely undisturbed. But Tomoyo knew better than that. Kurogane would be fairly on edge in these areas, so she decided to increase their pace, just a little. She glanced down at her dress, Hm. This one will have to be washed. There's dust beginning to gather on the hem.
